This event is the first in Upstate Forever 2014 Active Living Event Series, based in Spartanburg County and sponsored by the Mary Black Foundation. The series is designed to encourage community dialogue about policies and infrastructure that promote physical activity to improve public health.
City Trails Greenways Discussion
The hour long presentation and panel discussion will begin with light Omega Seamaster 9300

Of special interest is a project that will link the Mary Black Rail Trail safely to East Main Street downtown. This project includes a track, an on road multi use path that is physically separated from traffic and is distinct from a sidewalk. cycle track continues the feel of the rail trail into downtown, stated Ned Barrett, Trails Coordinator with Partners for Active Living. Once completed, Spartanburg will have the first cycle track infrastructure in the state, building upon Spartanburg distinction of being the first Bicycle Friendly Community and the first B Cycle city in the state, both projects spearheaded by Partners for Active Living.

Local conservation group Upstate Forever, in partnership with Partners for Active Living and the City of Spartanburg, is hosting On the Move: Upcoming Expansions of Omega Seamaster 300m Leather Strap Trails and Greenways in the City of Spartanburg, an after work presentation and panel discussion outlining the Greenways and Trails Plan. Eight projects close to downtown are slated for completion within the next two years.
