Meachum, a 34 year old civil attorney, beat opponent Jan Patterson by a wide margin, capturing about 68 percent of the vote. The 201st District Court hears civil and juvenile justice cases.

Montford was a prosecutor for 11 years before resigning in 2008 to run for Travis County district attorney. In the race for the 299th seat, Montford sold herself to voters as a longtime resident who understands community values and has solid courtroom experience.
