I'm certainly not an easy task, but I like to think my guide helps my readers see the variety of wonderful free things that are going on between Memorial Day and Labor Day. And I have to say that selfishly, it comes in handy for me as I plan my own free summer fun.
The popular Saturday night Centennial Park Big Band Dances start this Saturday and run through Aug. 25, with bands including the Moonlighters (who start and end the season), the Debbi Bailes Band, Radio Daze, City Swing, the Paul Ross Orchestra and The Merchants of Cool. Fridays through June and July at Red Caboose Park in Bellevue. The WannaBeatles start this series Friday and other featured bands include: City Lights Orchestra, Moonlighters, Deep Grooves Steel Drum Band and The Blues Brokers.
Sundays run through June 24, with Suzi Ragsdale today; Jim Lauderdale, June 3; and Will Kimbrough, June 10. The June 14 concert features Steve Roper Band; June 28, the Toca Trio; and July 12, Michael Fair Band. Monday at Memorial Park in downtown Franklin. June 24 on the lawn of Harpeth Hills Church of Christ, 1949 Old Hickory Blvd. on July 14 at Aspen Grove Park, plus indoor concerts on Aug. 19 at the Brentwood Library and Aug. 26 at the College Grove Artsitorium. at the Harpeth Hills Memory Garden on Highway 100. Monday at the Nashville National Veterans Cemetery on Gallatin Road. July 1 at First Baptist Church of Fairview. This year, as always, there is plenty to do with tons of concerts with wonderful free music, outdoor dances and movies. There are nature programs, magicians, wine tastings, art events and children's activities. If you want to stay cool, there are canoe floats and splashy water fun, plus lots of opportunities to learn some new and interesting things.
The Metro Library Main Library and branches are all showing lots of free movies this summer, everything from a 1980s film festival in June at the Bordeaux branch, to Michael Jackson, This is It on June 26 at the Goodlettsville branch, to Alfred Hitchcock's Strangers on a Train on June 12 at Edmondson Pike branch to "Saturday Afternoon at the Omega Seamaster Green Dial

The Brentwood Library, 8109 Concord Road, has free movies selected from the American Film Institute's Top 100 list. 18. There are also showings of free teen movies including Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows and Tim Burton's Corpse Bride. There are a couple of documentary screenings that are free too.

The Hendersonville Arts Council has a summer concert series at Monthaven Mansion, 1154 W. on the third Sunday of each month. On June 17, it is the Denny Jiosa Band; on July 15, Mat Britain and the Deep Grooves Steel Pan Band; Aug. 19, the Jerry Tachoir Group. They also have free wine tastings. Sundays. on the downtown square kicks off Friday with the The Firehouse Band. On July 6, it will be the Stones River Pilots. The series continues with an Aug. 3 concert. Sunday concerts through July. The lineup features Little Texas on June 3, Omega Seamaster Vintage Price the Nashville Symphony on June 10, the Devonshires on June 17, the WannaBeatles on June 24, The Bicho Brothers on July 8, and Who's Bad: the Michael Jackson Tribute Band on July 15. at 312 S. This Nashville Scene movie series has moved from Centennial Park to Warner Park's Cross Country Field on Highway 100. Other movies to be featured are June 13: Shrek; June 20: Twilight: Breaking Dawn; and June 27: Captain America (edited). with picnics or to buy food from vendors. at various locations June 4 July 28. The free outdoor shows, which Murfreesboro has been offering for more than 50 years, are at Cason Lane trailhead on Monday nights, at Cannonsburgh Village on Tuesdays, Siegel Neighborhood Park on Thursdays, Mitchell Neilson Primary on Fridays and Hobgood Elementary School on Saturdays. 615 890 5333.
